Properties of objects and materials can change.

Students can have a lot of fun with this activity and seeing how many different ways one resource can be used.

Let’s take wood for an example. Wood is gotten from trees. Wood can then be used to make your house. Wood can also be put in a stove and used for energy. However, wood can also be transformed into planks, which can also be used to build your house. Planks can also be used to build chests, and a work bench. Planks can also be turned into sticks. Sticks can be used to make tools, such as pickaxes, axes, and torches. Students can write about all the different ways that wood can be transformed and used, or take pictures of it in its various forms and put together a slideshow.
